volunteer
We have volunteer positions available in 11 places of Peru.
Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety
of educational and community aid programs. To participate will
give volunteers a chance to make an important contribution
to the people of Peru and while doing so gain an in depth
experience of the country and its culture that will stay
with them the rest of their life.

Working in orphanages
Many of the orphans have come from homes of domestic violence;
many of them don't have relatives. Poverty now days leaves many
children abandoned.
Orphanages in Peru provide orphans with daily meals, a bed and
schooling, but they need people to give them attention, time and
love.
Depending on your own skills and interests, volunteers are
required to work at a range of orphanages and social service
placements in Peru. The work will be very varied and creative -
involving teaching, playing with the children, running many
types of craft activities, administration, sports, teaching
English, teaching what you know.
Elderly care
Volunteers will
take care to elder people organizing activities and sports,
reading books and news, making handicrafts and performing daily
chores.
Applicants need to
have an intermediate Spanish level
Recommended minimum commitment 1 month
Health program for students and graduated (Psychiatry,
Psychology, ophthalmology, general medicine, doctor assistants)
This program offers to volunteers an opportunity to gain
experience in the medical field.
You can work in different areas and topics:
- Public Medical Centers
- Public Hospitals
- Health Campaigns
- Geriatric centers
- sexual health, personal hygiene, and family planning.
It's necessary to have an intermediate Spanish level in order to give
local people as much help as possible.
Recommended minimum commitment 1 month
Teacher assistant (nursery school, elementary school)
Teacher assistants
help teachers at public schools to develop the daily classes.
There are an
average of 30 attendants per classroom

Street Children Help Program
Volunteers bring various educational activities to the streets
and markets where children work. Volunteers prepare academic,
artistic and social activities for street and working children.
Volunteers (in groups of 2 to 4).
This program aims to establish positive mentoring relationships
with these neglected children, to encourage them to return to
school and to assist them with immediate problems. Volunteers
should be willing to get down and dirty working with children
out of doors.
Volunteers wanting to work in this project must have confidence
and at least an intermediate level of Spanish in order to give
the children as much help as possible.
Recommended minimum commitment 3 weeks
Children daycare
Nothing says "love" like a child's smile!, you can help
feed and care for infants each day, volunteers stimulate, love
and nurture them in a way a parent would. Just playing with
these children will make a huge difference in their lives. And
you will benefit from the healing smiles and warm hugs of your
small charges. Physicians can also be helpful. Day-care centers
are located in economical depressed areas of the city
Taking care of people with mental and physical disabilities
Volunteers can help with daily routines such as feeding and
cleaning, and also assist with recreational activities, playing,
music and exercising. Joining the local organization in its
commitment to serving the physical and mentally disabled
population also helps add to the sense of solidarity that
nurtures their efforts.
NOTE: To apply for this project is necessary to have previous
experience

ELT English
teaching
We are in need of English speaking volunteers to provide English lessons to Peruvian students at public
schools and English schools. Students are from 6 to 20
years old and are from different levels of English language
ability. Volunteers will work from Monday to Friday. 4 hours per
day either in the morning or afternoon.
An average of 20 pupils will attend the classes. Students are
very co-operative because they really want to learn and improve
their English.
NOTE: Classes in Public Schools run from April to December
Farming communities
This cultural
immersion program is set up with the aim to settle a rural
network of alternative tourism in Peru.
The goal of this
project is to bring people from around the world to experience
life in small farming communities.
This project seeks
to provide an alternative source of income for farmers and to
promote cross-cultural understanding.
Volunteers will help in diverse duties. Among their main
activities are planting and harvesting crops, installing
irrigation and delivering animals.
Optionally you can
help the family making handicrafts, textiles, build houses.
In education
English speaking volunteers can teach English to the local
community.
Making bricks,
and tiles
Volunteers help to a family that makes bricks and tiles. In Peru
this poor families form small communities and settle close to
urban centers. Although bricks and tiles for building houses are
made in large factories many families still keep making them
handmade.
Earthquake Recovery Program
Help rebuild schools and houses in the south coast
of Peru.
This volunteer program is for groups or individuals who are able
to work in basic conditions.
Due to a hard living conditions we recommend a maximum of 3
weeks commitment.
Conservation
Help Amazonian
indigenous communities to organize themselves to face
globalization.
Indigenous
communities are settle in large territories respecting and
living in close relationship with nature.
Nowadays new risks
are endangering their pristine world.
Oil prospectors,
loggers, coca farmers, private inns are depleting or privatizing
their territories.
Volunteers will
help indigenous communities to run conservation programs.
This volunteer
opportunity is for groups of minimum 5 people.
